Martian Marathon 5K

Doug and I ran a 5K together on the weekend. It was a local run in Dearborn starting from Ford Field. I finished in 30:22 and Doug finished in 30:00. I let him win (ha, ha)!

I finished 12 out of 49 for my age group. We ran with Bonnie DeRoo who won 3rd in her age group for the 10K and Bryce (5K) and Melissa Miller (10K). It was a chilly morning.

Murder Mystery Dinner and Valentine's Day

We also won a dinner for 2 on Valentine's Day at Longhorn Steakhouse. We were treated like royality and even had our own waitress!

We went to a Murder Mystery Fundraising Dinner for Dearborn Christian School. It was set in the 20's on a cruise ship.

First Day of School

Today was the first 1/2 day of school for Josh and Kellie. Josh is going into 1st grade and Kellie started 3-year old pre-school at Dearborn Christian School. Josh's teacher is Mrs. Duck and Kellie's teacher is Miss Dee. They were both excited to start back at school. Josh came home with homework that was due in 1 week and had it completed before dinner :)

I know I haven't updated this in a while and I have a ton of summer pics to add but last night was a big night for our family. Josh learned to ride his 2-wheeler without training wheels. I promised him that I would buy him a Nintendo DS once he learned. We went right from the park to Target.

Josh and Kellie's "Unbirthday" Party

The kids have been watching "Alice in Wonderland" all winter so we decided to have an "unbirthday" party on May 3rd. Josh turned 6 on April 27th and Kellie turned 3 on April 28th.

Josh's Big Surgery

Josh had big surgery this past Monday. He had his adenoids and tonsils removed and tubes inserted into both ears. He's had a long struggle with fluid in his inner ear and ear infections. We pray that this surgery will be the last step in ensuring his hearing is 100%. He was very brave going into surgery. His recovery has been slow. He doesn't want to eat (even now 5 days later). He has been sleeping with me so I can give him pain meds through the night. He said today he wants to sleep with me until he is 10 :)

Visit to Florida

We flew out on a Friday morning to Tampa airport and returned late the following Monday night. We had a whirlwind visit with Doug's parents and his brother Dave and wife Elizabeth. We visited the Zoo, hit the beach and swam in the pool a couple of times. The kids were great dealing with the red tape at the airport and all the waiting. Here are a couple of my favorite pics:

5/2 Birthday Bash

What a weekend of birthday fun. 10 guys went to the Tiger's game on Friday for Josh's 5th Birthday (Doug, Josh, Poppa, Grandpa, Uncle Jeffy, Trevor, Uncle Jeremy, Bryce, Jon and Scotty).

Saturday was a family party with 8 kids and 13 adults at Chuck E Cheese on Kellie's 2nd birthday.

Toothless Wonder

Josh lost his first tooth today! It's been loose for a couple weeks now. I remembered to take a picture of all his teeth just last night and tonight at dinner Doug noticed a bit of blood in his mouth. We didn't know where his tooth went and then we found it in the croissant we bought from the Monroe Bakery. Josh is excited about the Tooth Fairy coming tonight. He was so proud we had to call Bryce, Aunt Michelle, Nene, and Grandma. We tried to call Trevor but there was no answer.

I saw this on Divine Design and looked it up on the web. It comes with prints you can leave in or replace with your own pictures. You can also download different prints from their site. It comes with a template that you tack on the wall and then you mark where all the nails go...very easy!!

This is right in our foyer when you walk in the front door.

Well it's official. I took Kellie to Build-A-Bear on Saturday and the suckies are no more. That place is a zoo. We waited in line for about 20 mins and by the time it was our turn she was clinging onto me hungry and ready for a nap. She packed up all her suckies in her purse and gave them to the lady to stuff into her new bunny. She's asked about them since but understands they are in her bunny. We also took down her crib yesterday since she's slept well on her toddler bed for a week now. All that's left know is potty training...how fun :)

Well the transition from the Livonia house to our new Dearborn house is finally over! The kids started their new daycare center last week and are doing great! Doug was rear ended last week in our Escape which will be in the shop for about 2 weeks. He gave himself a huge gash in his forehead trying to install new car seats into our rental car the following night. We are so thankful for our small group from Church and our friends and family who helped us move, we couldn't have done it with them. My nephew's Bryce and Jayce say I have the coolest house to play hide n' seek in. I had last week of to unpack and get some running around done. I was sworn in as a US Citizen on Monday January 8th and I'm now waiting for my US Passport. I'm hoping it doesn't take too long so I can travel to Canada soon. We are looking foward to hosting many get togethers at our new home.

We are so excited, we just bought a new house. It is right down the street from our Church (Dearborn Christian Fellowship http://www.dearborncf.com/ ) which is attached to the Christian Reformed school that Doug went to that we are going to send the kids to.

These pictures are of a house that was recently completed that is almost the same. Ours should be done by the end of the year. We are excited to be able to select a lot of what is going into our new home.

I was one of the lucky 2 people in my deptarment to have my name drawn to be able to attend the Human Factor's conference in San Francisco! I flew out on Oct. 15th and came back on the red-eye on Thursday Oct. 19th. Doug kept the house in tip top condition and managed very well watching the kids including taking them to swimming and soccer without me.

We flew down to visit Doug's parents, and Doug's brother David and his wife Elizabeth. This was Kellie's first trip on an airplane and she did great. We had strangers approach us on both flights to tell us how well the kids did. What a great compliment! The weather was so nice. We swam in the Gulf of Mexico and in the pool everyday.

Run Wild

We signed up for a fun walk/run at the Zoo on Sept. 16th. Josh had soccer so we met Daddy and Kell there after that. This was Kellie's first trip to the zoo. She smiled and pointed a lot :)

The Bear Tree

The bear tree is a place we visit regularly on our walk/bike ride around the neighborhood. Josh has made friends with the elderly man who lives there. Josh likes to walk around the bricks and check up on the flowers. Josh was so excited when the man gave us a flower from the bear tree to plant in our front yard.
